My my My my
2020 Track and Field Season

Hello Track and Field Families,

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the cancellation of 2020 WYB Track and Field season.

We know that this will come as an enormous disappointment to the athletes, parents and coaches who were excited for the season to commence. This is not a decision we have taken lightly and there are two overriding concerns that have caused us to make this decision at this time.

First, the State of Ohio has not allowed sports other than baseball and softball, golf, and tennis to resume (as of May 18, 2020). Second, Worthington City Schools has closed all school facilities until June 30, 2020 and all reservations for groups seeking field use have been cancelled for the summer.

Right now, the most important thing all of us can do is focus our attention on helping people with the new challenges we all face.

As Bill Darling, Thomas Worthington High School Track Coach, said to his athletes:

“True heroes are measured by what they give away…It would be far better to look at not what was taken from you, but what you gave. You gave it up to save the lives of your fellow Ohioans. You gave it up knowing that, in all likelihood, you may have been fine -- but others would have been in peril.

In these next few years, look around your table.  Keep your eyes up in your community.  See them. Know that there are people who will be with us for years to come -- people who are so precious and so valuable. They will be here because of what you have given away.”

Please take care of yourselves and your loved ones in this uncertain time. If you need anything, please feel free to reach out.
